क्या खूब ज़िन्दगी का तमाशा देखा

जवानी में बुढ़ापा आते हुए देखा |

देखा न तो बस सपने को हकीकत में बदलते

जो बनाया था उसे उजड़ते देखा |

दुनिया की निभाईं सारी रस्में

खुदी को दुसरे के लिए जलाते देखा |

हर किसी ने माँगा जो उसे लगा अच्छा

न देखा तो बस किसी ने मुझे उजड़ते देखा |

नए मकाम मिले तो खुश भी होना था

पर जो दिल के करीब था उसे जाते हुए भी देखा |

अब किस से कहें क्या है कमी

एक अरसा हुआ खुद को मुस्कुराते देखा |

न जाने किस राह पर चल पड़े हैं

कोई फिकर भी नहीं,

देखा तो बस कल, आज और आज का कल देखा |

Life is a game of chess,

I always thought.

Making moves thoughtfully

Endlessly I fought.

To every situation I found a move

Thought that it would make me stronger

Only to find that the move made the game

A little longer.

I could see people around me loosing

And those who did never loose.

I never lost hope thinking

Come on' my skills are inferior to whose?

But how is it that I feel like loosing

Was that a wrong move, I am always musing

May be not or may be

But this was not according to my strategy!

All I have is one square at a time

Black or white, the choice is not mine

I thought harder only to find

That it's not me who is playing the game

I am just another pawn on the board

Waiting for my move, I don't have a name.
